5/16/20 UPDATE: We are cancelling this trail work event in effort to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus. We will look at rescheduling something when things settle down and we can get back to spending time together in groups.
Trail work in Forest Park! We always ask for a ‘hard job’ when we do trail work with FPC and they usually give us something hearty to do. This year’s event will involve hike/run into and out of our site, which is at Leif and Chestnut trails. Parking is super limited so we have a couple options to get to the worksite – please DO NOT drive directly to the Firelane 1 trailhead. We need to be at the Chestnut and Leif trail junction at 9:00 a.m.
Getting to the site:
Option 1: Park at Skyline Tavern and carpool to Firelane 1 and hike/run down Firelane 1, left on Leif, to the work site at Chestnut (1.2 miles). Be at Skyline Tavern by 8:15 a.m.
Option 2: Park around the Leif main entrance on Thurman or Aspen Roads and hike/run to the work site at Chestnut & Leif (3.2 miles)
If you aren’t super familiar with this part of the park, here’s a great Forest Park interactive map with the trails.
What to wear/bring:
Wear pants and sturdy shoes (hiking boots are great) as you’ll be working with tools and getting dirty. Bring outer layers appropriate for that day’s weather. Gloves are provided, but if you have your own, you can bring those. Also bring your own water and snacks.
