Volunteer

Racers tell us over and over again that we have the best volunteers. We agree and feel very fortunate to have such a fantastic community of people who volunteer at our events, and we do not take volunteers for granted. If you’d like to help out at a race, we’d love to have you there.

We publish all of our volunteer positions on each race’s Ultrasignup registration page. Click on the green Volunteer button (with the heart) and you can see which spots are available. Then just select the one that fits your schedule best and you are all set. You’ll receive a confirmation email automatically from Ultrasignup and we will send you another email before the race with the pertinent details.

It is very helpful and we really prefer for people to sign up for volunteer positions online, before the race. Sometimes there are things we can find for you to do when you just show up race day, but registering online lets us know how many shirts to order for volunteers and gives us a way to communicate details or changes with you.

For those who have dogs, please note that dogs are not allowed on course or within 50 feet of the aid stations at our races. This means you should probably leave your dog at home if you are volunteering at an aid station. Well-behaved and leashed dogs are welcome at the start/finish area, but not in the kitchen or where food is served.

Benefits of Volunteering

All of our volunteers, regardless of role they play, receive a race t-shirt, a pair of those coveted Fitsok Go Beyond Racing socks, food and beer/cider at the race, and an invitation to our annual Volunteer Party where you’ll get even more swag.

Plus, and more importantly, you are going to get tons of good feels for helping runners achieve things that they weren’t sure they could. A lot of people like to volunteer at a race they are considering running as a way to learn about the event. Or, they volunteer at a race they’ve run as a way to give back to those volunteers who helped them.

Volunteer of the Year

We ask our racers to nominate a volunteer for the Volunteer of the Year. The Volunteer of the Year is announced at the Volunteer Party and receive a special prize from Go Beyond Racing.

By signing up to volunteer online, your name is included in that survey and runners can nominate you!
