The 25K race is a very steep and very technical course run on single-track trails in the Tillamook State Forest. It involves scrambling up and down steep and rocky trails, with exposure. It could be one of the hardest races you’ll run and you will be so proud of your accomplishment, even though your quads will be thrashed.
There is about 5800 feet of gain, much in the first three miles. It’ll take you longer than you expect to get to the top of Elk mountain and then onto Kings mountain. But once you reach that second summit, you’re in for a big descent to the Wilson River trail. Your climbing and descending isn’t over, but the trail is definitely more runnable.

The race starts at Elk Creek Campground, however, you will need to pick up your bib and take a shuttle from the the Smith Homestead, just east of the Tillamook Forest Center, on Highway 6. Please do not drive to the start line – bibs are only available at the Smith Homestead. The finish line is at the Smith Homestead as well.
Here is an interactive map you can play with.
In this 15-mile race, runners will summit two mountains – Elk and Kings – and involve ~5800 ft of gain. There are a number of sections requiring scrambles as well as very steep descents on rocky where secure footing is a wish. This is NOT your typical 25K trail race. We recommend you run the course prior to race day to give you an understanding what it will throw at you.

The cut-off time for the 25K is 2:00 pm at aid station 2 (mile 7.65). You must leave aid station 2 by 2:00 pm (5 hrs from start time), or the volunteers will have to pull you from the race.

Here’s a Wy’east Wolfpack video of much of the course, that they created during one of their Adventure Runs
Bees can be an issue during the month of October in the forest. If you are allergic to bees, you are required to carry an EPI-PEN during the race.
