Group Run in Places We Don’t Have Races #2

UPDATED NOTE: Ecola State Park is still closed due to a landslide. We ARE pivoting and going to Astoria to the Fort to Sea trail instead.
They’re back! We’re hosting three group runs in a places where don’t have races. These are on trails that we think are pretty cool and we like to show them off to people. If we could, we’d have a race there, but for various reasons like permitting, parking, scheduling, etc, we don’t. So this is a chance to spend a good chunk of the day with us in the off-season, running, laughing, and sweating, and then grabbing a bite to eat on the way home.
This year’s runs are all out-and-backs, so people can run the entire planned route, or turn around and head back whenever they want:
#1: Larch Mountain (1/24/26) – 13.1 miles
#2: Ecola (2/21/26) – 10.1 miles Fort to Sea to Fort (2/21/26) – 13 miles
#3: Lewis River (3/21/26) – 12 miles
The second run is now the Fort to Sea trail (due to the landslide-caused park closure at Ecola). This is a really fun route with a really wide variety of terrain and scenery. We start at Fort Clatsop on typical coastal forest trails and then travel through literal cow pastures to reach the beach. Yes, we’ll touch the ocean!. It’s an out-and-back totally 13 miles, but you can cut it shorter if you like.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a $10 fee at Fort Clatsop and they DO NOT TAKE CASH. Please consider carpooling*!
After the run, we’ll go to Fort George Brewery for lunch. 1483 Duane St, Astoria, OR 97103
Fort Clatsop is almost a 2-hour drive from Portland.
*The Sunset Transit Center Park & Ride is a great place to park to carpool. If able to offer a seat or are looking for a ride, meet there at 7:00 a.m. 10470 SW Barnes Rd, Portland, OR 97225
