12-Hour Night Relay Added to Bristow

New for 2025, the Bristow race has a 3-person, 12-hour, night relay. Get your gang together and plan to make it an all-nighter in June.

We’ve had many requests to add a night-only option to our Bristow races. So we are, but we’re going to make it a really fun option that involves getting with a couple running besties and taking turns running loops.

The 12-Hour Night Relay starts at 8:00 p.m. and finishes at 8:00 a.m. You’ll be joining the 24-hour racers on the course during a part of their race that can get pretty tough. Your team’s energy will make their race even better. You’ll make the whole event better.

How Does the Night Relay Work?

Each team is three people.

Gender doesn’t matter.

You’ll carry and handoff an actual baton.

Each runner has a to complete at least one lap during the 12-hour race.

You can but do not have to handoff each loop; a runner can do as many laps in a row as they want.

Teams do not have to have a runner on the course at all times; you can nap and rest whenever you want.

You can utilize the aid station and/or set up your own crew spot.

No pacers for the relay.

Only one teammate can run at a time.

The race is chipped-timed and the winning team is the one that collectively runs the furthest in the 12-hour time frame.

All other Bristow race rules apply.

This is a novel way to get some practice running in the dark, when you’re tired. If you’ve got a bigger distance race coming up that involves running overnight, this is a fantastic opportunity to get experience with the darkness and your nighttime gear. The relay format amps up the fun factor.

Registration opens January 1st. The captain will register and pay first, and then the other two teammates will get invited to sign up. Race date is June 7th.
