We are thrilled to share that we are adding a new race to the 2017 calendar. The Bend Trail Series is modeled after our very popular Portland Trail Series, and will take place this summer on the trails around Bend, Oregon!
The Bend Trail Series is a set of four short trail races on Thursday evenings. Each race is at a different trailhead and the course is secret until it is unveiled the Monday before the race on the races’ Facebook page (like us now) and on the website. The races are between 4 and 7 miles each.
Racers earn points at each race, based on where they finish behind the leader. You can read more about the scoring system here. We use a runner’s best three scores to calculate the final score. This means you can have a bad race or even miss one and still place in the final standings. Overall winners receive prizes at the awards ceremony, which occurs immediately following the final race, at 10 Barrel’s newest taproom, on the eastside.
The races are Thursday evenings, at 6:00 pm, on June 1, 15, 29, and July 13. The Series registration fee is $70.00 for all four races. We’ll also offer day-of-race registration for each race for $20.
We’ve talked about taking our evening race series to other cities for a few years now and are excited about Bend because there is such a strong running community there.
“I ran in the Portland Trail Series when I lived there, and those races were so fun. It was really nice to have a low-key, mid-week race with friends”, commented Ronda Sundermeier. “I’m really looking forward to the Bend Trail Series.”
