This is going to sound a bit crazy, but trust me, it’s real.
Dr. Drake Tollenaar and his Cornerstone Chiropractic is one of the sponsors for the Pick Your Poison Relay. They were last year too, and you’ll remember they set up with massage tables at the main exchange point. They had such a good time running the relay and being at the event that this year they are upping their involvement in a BIG way. Seriously big.
Dr. Tollenaar has made a very generous offer to his patients who form a team; if an individual raises or donates $250 or more to Camp to Belong or Compassion First (two non-profit organizations he believes in) he’ll match the donation and pay for the individual’s entry fee.
And now, he’s extending that offer to you. To anyone. If you’d like to run the relay, and make a donation of $250 or more to either organization, Dr. Tollenaar will match your donation and cover your portion of the team entry. See, seriously big.
The prices for the relay are:
We want to make this as simple as possible for everyone involved. Here is how it works:
Important: This is available to teams that are not already registered, so please do not register before making your donation and hearing from us.
From their websites:
Camp to Belong is a an international non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that has been actively reuniting brothers and sisters placed in separate foster, adoptive or kinship homes through Summer Camp Programs and year round events since 1995.
It believes that siblings may not have the opportunity to read bedtime stories together at night, have breakfast together, cheer for each other at school functions or share precious holidays – all the things that typical siblings get to do each day. Siblings are often taken for granted. Yet, the sibling relationship can be our longest relationship in life.
It’s primary goal is to provide a sense of belonging to youth as individuals, and as siblings, giving them opportunities to share childhood memories together and among other youth in the same situations.
Compassion First is exists to help end commercial exploitation of humans in trafficking and sex slavery. Thousands of men, women and children are forced to endure unspeakable abuses by means of commercial exploitation. The overwhelming percentage of victims, mostly women and children, are trafficked into the commercial sex industry.
As part of a worldwide movement working to end modern-day slavery, we must also care for it’s survivors. Compassion First provides holistic aftercare for trafficking survivors, partnered law enforcement training, safe pathways for survivors through the court system, and financial collaboration for rescues of trafficked persons.
It is specifically committed to serving in countries that do not already have a strong, western non-governmental organization (NGO) presence in the area of anti-trafficking work. The flagship operation is in the nation of Indonesia. Compassion First employs western providers, alongside indigenous staff, working with survivors in our care; we value and pursue genuine and supportive partnerships with like-minded non-profit organizations and law enforcement agencies.
We thank Dr. Tollenaar for his generosity and for his support of this event. We are now calling him Dr. Do Good.
