How could running up a mountain, and then back down, be so fun? The Gnar Gnar is usually a 6-mile race at Mt. Hood Skibowl, that let’s you earn almost 1900′ of gain in 3.5 miles and you get to loose it all on the 2.5 mile descent to the finish line.
For 2020 however, the race is the USATF National Championship Mountain Race! So for this year, the course is changed and is an ALL UPHILL race. It’s 7.4-miles long and finishes at the top of Skibowl, after about 2500′ of gain.
There is $10,000 in prize money and the top four men and women earn spots on the USA team to compete at the World Championships in Spain.
This race is open to everyone. Sure, they’ll be some really fast athletes there that you may follow on social media or aspire to. But there will be a bunch of amateur and novice runners too. It’s going to be fun!
